He spoke of the conundrum with MTV News back in April and said he understands that his song, "Marry Me," wasn't helping the issue. Which, for poor unsuspecting Derulo, is just the case. In fact, it might be the most nerve-wracking question to be asked when you do actually intend on marrying the person in question. There's so many other speculations that usually make the rounds first - feuding, pregnancies, drug use, bad tipping - but that doesn't mean that the marriage inquiry is any less daunting, especially when your response is recorded for the entire world to see. In the celebrity world, being asked if you're going to marry your longtime significant other is hardly the worst thing in the world. But, are they just rumors or are Jason Derulo and Jordin Sparks actually engaged? Well, if you don't count those pesky little engagement rumors. And, to top off their longevity, the two have gone through their relationship practically unscathed by tabloid gossip and accusations. So, three years in Hollywood terms? A downright eternity.
While Derulo only technically confirmed that he and Sparks were dating in January of 2012, the couple were quite obviously together before that as he cited Sparks as helping him get through his awful neck injury that he was thankfully able to overcome. "She's opened me up to new things," he said.So, Jason Derulo (yes, I'm singing his name in my head, too) and Jordin Sparks have been together for almost three years now.
He also said his girlfriend is "always thinking about others" and is "super charitable." She'll tell you how it is… Jordin's the exact same way. "At this point, it's really scary," Derulo said. They sing together in "Vertigo," a track from his latest album, "Talk Dirty."ĭerulo said they work well as a couple because they are "polar opposites." The thing he loves most about her, he said, is that she reminds him of his mother. He launched his career writing songs for "everybody from Pitbull, to Danity Kane, to Cassie, to Sean Kingston, Iyaz," he said, before breaking out as a star on his own.ĭerulo and Sparks have been an item for more than two years. "When I do get down on one knee, it's going to be one of the most amazing experiences of my life, but when the time is right."ĭerulo has sold more than 20 million singles in the United States, and has had three songs hit number one on Billboard's Mainstream Top 40. "It will be the most amazing time," Derulo said. The 24-year-old pop star said he wants to wait for the right moment before putting a ring on the former "American Idol" winner's finger. "That's the reason why I wrote the song in the first place," he told "Nightline," "because I wanted her to know that when the time is right then it will happen."īut don't think he'll necessarily be heading to the altar any time soon.
